Sorry this is a day late.  Spent my off days in a cabin with some pretty bad wifi.  Stopped by Sugar Grove and between power outages, I think I will finally get this sent.

Saw less hikers last week.  Sunday was a wet one.

Plan to stay in the Highlands for all of this shift since it is a Holiday weekend.

Hey guys,

Back from a week in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota.  Walleye is a great tasting fish.

The Mount Rogers section remains in great shape.  Hoping we got a couple showers on Monday evening and Tuesday.  Sunday and Monday were rather windy.  

I plan to walk the PATH section from Adkins South on Thursday and Friday. Thanks for the ride Evan! Should be in the Highlands on Friday afternoon.  

The Eagle Scout project turned out great.

Hoping for a week without a new fire pit at Quebec Branch.

Had a guest who has been visiting the Highlands for 40 years tell me this is a clean as he has ever seen the area.  So good work everyone!

Hey guys,

Hope everyone is doing well.

Just realized I didn't have a daily post for Friday:. Wet, watched from my car most of the day.  I did help free a young child locked in the Scales bathroom.  

Many lost hikers over the holiday weekend.  The fog didn't help the situation.  I have noticed a high percentage won't ask for help.  But I am at the point I can just tell from the
 body language if they are lost.

Had 2 calves in the Rhododendron Gap spring.  The wire at the bottom of the spring may need an extra string of winter closer to the ground.

Off to Damascus in the morning to check on a possibly abandoned camp and a downed tree.

Good morning,

Warmer weather, happy hikers and a well maintained trail system.  

I did have a report of a threatening hiker on Monday.  I was able to locate him and get a photo.  He was talkative during our brief interaction.  The Damascus Police deemed him a
 Non threat to himself and others after speaking with him on Friday night during Trail Days.

Other than some motorcycles waking me up, it was a wonderful week.

Hey guys,

Another wonderful week on the trail. 

Still some reports of Norovirus, but not as many as last week.

Hikers are very happy to have privies and bear boxes in Virginia.  I let them know the bear boxes end at Trimpi and to be ready to store their food in a safe manner.

I am very happy with the small amount of garbage in the Highlands.  I expected much more.  

Plan to hiker from Adkins to VA 16 tomorrow, thanks to a shuttle from Mr Blevins.  Jim H, I will try and get you an update via email tomorrow evening if I encounter any obstructions.

Plan to hike out of town on Sunday with the Trail Days crowd and get them off to a good start, at least to Elk Garden.

Not much hiking this week.  But I enjoyed touring the Highlands with Mr Blevins and having the other VARO Ridgerunners down to Elk Garden on Friday.

Going forward, my off days will be Tuesday and Wednesday's.

Tracking down a lost tent, locating some blow downs North of Hurricane Shelter and some North of Teas Road and helping install a bear box are on the agenda for Wednesday and Thursday.
