Dear Bill, Jim, and the folks at Mount Rogers AT Club,
You are cordially invited to PATC’s 94th Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration on
Tuesday November 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM.
PATC appreciates the relationship we have with the other AT clubs, and we take pride in our shared mission to serve the trails community. I look forward to celebrating our accomplishments with you!
We are pleased to announce our guest speaker, Mills Kelly, Ph.D., Professor of History at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, Interim Director of the Center for History and New Media, and long-time PATC member and maintainer
for the Manassas Gap Shelter.
Mills first began hiking on the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park in 1971. He is currently studying the history of the AT and has recently completed a book manuscript,
Virginia’s Lost Appalachian Trail, about the original route the Trail took between Roanoke and Damascus. This 300-mile long section of the AT was abandoned in 1952 in favor of the current route, but was considered by hikers to include some of the most
beautiful and challenging sections of the entire Trail. The story of that largely-forgotten section of the AT, much of which was maintained by PATC members, will be the topic of his talk and will be accompanied by some never-before-seen photos.
For the safety and well-being of our members and guests, our celebration will be virtual again this year. The meeting is Tuesday, November 16, and we will open the Zoom meeting interface at 6:45 PM to give everyone plenty of time to log
in. We will have people standing by if you need any assistance.
Registering is simple and easy!
Just click this link and follow the instructions.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the webinar.
Hope to ‘see’ you there!
Sincerely,
Joe Lombardo, President
Potomac Appalachian Trail Club
