This seems like a good idea.  No one ever asked me for my hours this
year, so I doubt they were counted.

                 All,
                I
did not participate much in the discussion regarding
automating the work/admin reporting structure for
clubs.  PATC went to full automation years ago
because with 1,200 miles of maintained trails and
many shelters/cabins, a manual reporting process was
not feasible.  We initially developed “home grown”
systems but these had little software documentation
and security safeguards.  We decided on a commercial
product which captures all our reporting
requirements.  We have 30 districts and each is
equivalent to a small club in terms of trail mileage
and number of maintainers.  Some are directly
related to the AT (240 miles) but most support other
                    national/state/forest agencies.

                We
have a professional IT staffer who deals with all
our data requirements and resolves any reporting
issues.  If you concur I might have him join us at
the next Friday meeting.  He is extremely
knowledgeable with our reporting data requirements
and might be able to assist in the automation
                    discussion.

                Thanks
for the well run meeting and the excellent dialogue.
